Overview of Hornbill's Assetworks
In addition to the excellent IT asset management and intelligence gathering capabilities provided by Assetworks Discovery, the system can be configured to push information, in real-time, into other databases. This mechanism is typically used to integrate data collected by Assetworks Discovery into an IT Service Desk or Helpdesk solution. Hornbill's own Supportworks ITSM solution makes extensive use of the data gathered by Assetworks Discovery to populate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). From within the Supportworks interface, IT support staff can retrieve and display detailed configuration information of any device discovered by Assetworks with the click of a button, minimizing the number of applications a support technician needs to have running at the same time.
